Pilgrimage From Scattered Points (2006) – Luke Fowler

Pilgrimage from Scattered Points is a film portrait about the british composer Cornelius Cardew (1936-1981) and the Scratch Orchestra, which was formed by Cardew with Michael Parsons and Howard Skempton in 1968. Most members of this orchestra were not professional musicians but rather “musical enthusiasts” without any musical education. In the Scratch Orchestra students, office clerks, ordinary workers and amateurs worked with musicians and composers to create a unique form of communal composition, a new way to conceptualize and create music that left traces in contemporary music up until this day.
