The artist, engineer and jazz musician Walter Giers transforms the visual and acoustic elements of technological building blocks into sound and light artworks situated between music, visual art, and technology. Random generators control many of the works. Each evolves its own unforeseen dynamics through the constantly new variations in its complex inner life.
For Art-Statement-Art Walter Giers assembled fifty old loudspeakers and arranged them as a sculpture. Voices emanate from every box. For the recordings, Giers had asked a number of people the question: “What is art?” The answers sound simultaneously from all fifty loudspeakers – a portrayal of the heterophone opinions.
